Overview

Our Fiji project is located in one of the most breathtaking spots on earth. Imagine white sand beaches, the pristine waters of the South Pacific, and a real glimpse of life in an island village. Discover the natural wonder of this remote area while you help to provide villages with fresh water, restore local school equipment and teach English and other vital skills to primary school children.

Week one: Always dreamed of living a completely different way of life? This is your chance, in a traditional Fijian homestay. Your home-away-from-home lets you experience daily life like the locals. On arrival you’ll be welcomed wholeheartedly with a traditional ceremony and bowl of Kava, an ancient plant-based elixir native to the Pacific Islands. Once you’ve made yourself at home it’s time to get to work.

The infrastructure project will see you working right alongside the locals and VESA team to construct composts and incinerators for the village, ensuring that the schoolyard and surrounding buildings are clean and safe. Depending on the school’s requirements, you’ll help to build rainwater tanks that guarantee year-round supply of fresh, clean running water.

The education project gives you the chance to make some adorable new friends, teaching local primary school kids geography, maths and science through basic lessons and games. You’ll also play a crucial part in running workshops demonstrating proper hygiene techniques and the importance of nutrition and a healthy diet.

Week two: It’s time to live your ultimate tropical paradise life! You and your VESA crew set sail over the pristine waters of the South Pacific. Think exploring secluded islands and wiling away the afternoon in a hammock under palm shade. Or, for those who like a bit more action, you can kayak, snorkel, play volleyball or go fishing. This week, your only worry will be which picture-perfect island to explore next.
