SEE Turtles was launched in 2008 as the world's first effort to protect these species through ecotourism. Originally fiscally-sponsored by the Ocean Foundation and most recently Oceanic Society, SEE Turtles is now an independent 501c3 non-profit based in Beaverton, Oregon. All donations are tax deductible. Our EIN is 81-4325149 and our IRS confirmation letter can be downloaded here.

MISSION:

SEE Turtles protects endangered sea turtles throughout Latin America and the world by supporting community-based conservation efforts. Our Billion Baby Turtles program provides support for important turtle nesting beaches and has helped save more than 4 million hatchlings. Too Rare To Wear is a campaign working to end the demand for turtleshell products. Our conservation trips provide volunteer and financial support for conservation efforts and our school programs help teachers and students learn about these incredible animals and how to protect them.

Since our launch, we have helped save sea turtles in many different ways:

Billion Baby Turtles has saved more than 4 million turtle hatchlings at more than 30 nesting beach conservation projects across Latin America.

More than 1,300 people have visited turtle projects, supporting conservation and local communities.

We have generated more than US $1 Million in benefits for turtle conservation and local communities through tours, donations, and in-kind services.

More than 500 volunteers have completed more than 5,000 work shifts at turtle projects.

We have reached more than 10,000 students across the US and Latin America with our educational programs.

我们的教育工作坊培训超过100 teachers and community leaders on sea turtle educational techniques and we have funded field trips for more than 2,000 students living near turtle nesting beaches.

Too Rare To Wear is a campaign to end the demand for turtleshell products in Latin America. Our coalition includes more than 150 tourism and conservation organizations and has reached more than 10 million people about this issue.
