School Building Volunteer in Nicaragua

Today SchoolBOX is helping thousands of children in Nicaragua go to school. This is thanks to the passion and generosity of our international volunteers. Almost 700 individuals from Canada, the USA, Europe and Australia from ages 8 to 73 have come to help ‘Make Education Possible’ in Nicaragua!

SchoolBOX is committed towards ‘Making Education Possible’ in Central America. Through our various programs, we are aiding teachers and empowering thousands of students to get a basic education. Many of communities in Nicaragua do have a safe, secure and learning enabling environment. We have encountered students learning under makeshift wooden ranchos with no walls and a mud floor, and others learning in uncovered alleyways. Our goal is to provide a safe, secure and permanent school for communities so that children can reach their full potential for generations to come. SchoolBOX works to build complete classrooms, and washrooms for our partner communities.

What is the SchoolBOX Volunteer Experience?

A 10-day group trip to Nicaragua to help construct a school or classroom. We organize private transportation, accommodations, food and clean water, in-country guides, translation, safety and orientation from start to finish.

Volunteer Duties:

Work on a build site alongside SchoolBOX staff, teachers, students, parents and community volunteers in Nicaragua. Work varies from light to difficult based on your ability, but you could be digging foundations, mixing cement, painting classrooms or helping make wire columns.
Play with kids and encourage students to dream. Building relationships with the kids and community will be the most important work of all.
Learn about Nicaraguan history and culture, the importance of education to defeat poverty, and pick up some Spanish along the way!
Explore the beautiful country of Nicaragua. Activities may include a salsa dance class, visit to the market, beach, volcano or colonial city.
