Overview

NICE organizes various types of Volunteer Programs in Japan. Volunteers can take part in projects like:

• Care for abandoned cultivated land, organic farming assistance in Hokkaido
• Snow shoveling in a traditional building conservation area in Ehime, Nara, Nagano and Tokushima
• Preserving the beautiful beech forests in Fukuoka and Kumamoto
• Working in the flower farms in Kagoshima
•保持satoyama森林in Mie and Fukushima
• Farming in the mountain village in Ishikawa
• Revive the abandoned, organic field in Nara
• Run inter-cultural education for kids in Tokushima
• Improving a campsite at Nature School with your team in Hokkaido
• Assist the nature kid summer camp in Aomori
• Organic farming and nature life in Nagano

NICE also arranges workcamps for specific groups like schools, NGOs, companies, governments, etc. The content (type of work, place, period, finance, type or number of volunteers, etc.) depend on the needs of the groups and hosts. There is a increasing demand to input the elements of a workcamp, such as voluntary works and collective life, into often already existent programs in society such as schools, company trips, training for new employees, seminars and language classes.

Effective training and preparation for productive workcamps are necessary, especially for those who are not initially motivated towards voluntary service and global citizenship. Training programs can be improved by utilizing our know-how and extensive networks. It is an opportunity to involve a wider segment of society, such as individuals who would not normally apply alone or those who have not had the opportunity.
